I'm honestly shocked at all of the negative comments I've seen about Dickinson on this site. College was the best four years of my life and I can't imagine having gone anywhere else. Now that I'm working on my Master's at a much larger university, I appreciate my experiences at Dickinson more than ever. I never felt like a number there as I do in grad school. The financial aid office was friendly and easy to work with, and so was the career center. I had no problem finding a job in my field within a month of graduation. There was more underage drinking on campus than I would have liked, but I never had a problem finding alternate activities to fill my weekends. Besides, I was there to get an education, not to party! Carlisle is certainly not New York, but Harrisburg was only half an hour away. Philly, DC, and Pittsburgh also were less than a 3 hour drive away if we felt the need to experience a larger city. My advice to prospective students is to do yourselves a favor and talk to current students/recent alumni about their experiences instead of relying on websites like this one. If you're looking for a party school, don't waste your money on Dickinson - just go to Penn State or some other large state school. If you do choose to attend Dickinson, study abroad! It is truly a life-changing experience!
